Burrito Project in the News & Media.
The Burrito Project is expanding across the city and North America. Would you like to start a burrito project in your neighborhood? We are happy to help you get started.
Eric Resendiz, visits The Burrito Project and shares his experience. SKID ROW, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Volunteers make 1,000 burritos in Lincoln Heights to feed the homeless in Skid Row. They are part of the Burrito Project, an organization that has chapters across the U.S. and Canada. The video below aired on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
SOCKTOBER is several months away and we are gearing up for a very successful event in October. Socks are the number 1 most requested item from the homeless living on the street. We’re collecting socks for our giveaway event! Please help us collect socks so we can distribute to our neighbors living on the streets of Los Angeles.
Our FLEECE NAVIDAD event was successful but we are continuing our distribution of blankets during this chilly & rainy season. If you would like to donate a blanket or two, please visit our DONATION page. Thank you.
In September 2018, Danny Jensen from THRILLIST Los Angeles listed The Burrito Project in his 62 TOTALLY FREE THINGS TO DO IN LA (Who’s counting, but we were #9 on the list).
Los Angeles based, Greenbar Distillery, ran a September promotion to donate 50,000 burritos to the hungry in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento & Oakland. Learn more by clicking here.
The Burrito Project has also been featured on several media sites, including; KCBS2, KCAL9 & KABC7. People.com and NBC’s Today.com. We added a Testimonial Page so you can hear from our volunteers about their experience volunteering with, The Burrito Project. For more NEWS, please visit: http://theburritoproject.org/news/
So, what is a burrito project?
The Burrito Project is a group of really cool & groovy people (like YOU) who get together & make burritos. Once the burritos are made, we deliver the burritos along with bottled water (and bonus goodies like toiletry kits, clothing, blankets, etc.) to the homeless in downtown LA (and/or the Pasadena area).
In 2009 this burrito project chapter was born and many organizations and talented people have wanted to help share The Burrito Project message through video. We’ve added a VIDEO Page to our website so you can watch interviews including the latest video from People Magazine and the NBC Today Show and a short interview from TheMaking.org.
There are burrito projects sprouting up around town and across the country. Some deliver their burritos on bicycles, others on foot and some even use a red flyer wagon. Visit a burrito project in your neighborhood. If you’re in the Los Angeles/Pasadena area, come visit us for our large burrito project. If there is no burrito project near you, consider starting one up. We’ll help you get started.
As children we are taught to share. I was raised with the “time, talent & treasure” philosophy. I think it’s important to share the gifts we are graced with to make the world a better place. Yes, one person can make a difference. Imagine what a group of people with a common philosophy can do. The Burrito Project is definitely a TEAM effort. We look forward to working with you.
Is The Burrito Project going to eradicate world hunger and solve homelessness? No, but it will ensure that the people we serve have a warm meal to fill their bellies. We offer our freshly made burritos without judgment. There is no sermon or lecture. Our burritos are served with a smile. =)
If you or your company would like to help support The Burrito Project with volunteers, gifts or donations we welcome your support. We are a nonprofit organization which relies on the generosity of the community.
The best way to understand what the burrito project does is to come experience it for yourself. I suggest you bring a friend to share in the experience with you. We look forward to meeting you. Let’s make the world a brighter place. Be a hero with a burrito!
(Please be patient as we integrate and update our websites)
